Ronald “Ron” R. Berstler, age 68, of Williamsburg, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Ron is survived by his children, Jesse Berstler of Williamsburg and Jerridee (Bill) Mosher of Conroy, his mother, Charlotte Berstler of Marengo; 11 grandchildren, Crystal Berstler, Billy Mosher, Logan Weldon (Jess Simpson), McKenzie (Dustin) Grimm, Desire Berstler, Alexis Berstler, Xander Berstler, Shae Berstler, Ayden Berstler, Autumn Hammen and Aaliyah Berstler; two great-grandchildren; a brother Dan (Becky) Berstler of Marengo and a sister Debbie (Mike) Recker of Marengo. Also surviving Ron are his special friends Toshya Berstler and Mandy and Danny Dickel.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife Julia in 2020, and his mother-in-law Judith Purdin.
Ronald Ray Berstler was born April 24, 1956, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Charlotte (VanDee) Berstler. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1975. Ron married the love of his life, Julia Purdin on July 14, 1979, at First Lutheran Church in Conroy. Ron worked in maintenance for the Iowa County Home for 18 years. He then worked as a welder for Kinze Manufacturing for 25 years. He was known for being a freelance locksmith around Marengo. Ron enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and he was exceptionally good at woodworking. He especially enjoyed getting on his motorcycle and going for rides with his wife Julia.
