Rose Marie Lortz, age 88, of Hiawatha, passed away July 4, 2017, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 8300 C Ave. N.E., Marion, Iowa, with Rev. Perry Fruhling officiating. Burial will be in the South Amana Cemetery, South Amana, Iowa. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa and also one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Memorials can be contributed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Marion, or the Amana Heritage Museum.

Rose Marie is survived by two children Terry (Nancy) Trimpe, of Hiawatha, Teresa (Mike) David of Cedar Rapids and three step children Karen Nielsen, of Pleasanton, California, Ruth (Charlie) Batzel, of Windsor, California and Mark (Patti) Lortz, of Pleasanton, California; 10 grandchildren Abby (Ohmar) Coughlin, Omaha, Nebraska, Nathan Lortz, Mandie (Nick) Shriver, Libby (Ali) Batzel, Anne (Zach) Imboden, David Bazel, Tanya (Eric) Griffith, Jason (Julie) Nosek, Becca (John) Nosek and Katie (Cavan) Hallman; 11 great grandchildren Carter Coughlin, Will and Ele Shriver, Providence and Justice Imboden, Abby and Logan Griffith, Aidan and Brady Nosek and Keenan and Pierce Nosek; and a sister Lillian (Harold) Moessner. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Doris Trumpold, first husband George Trimpe and her husband Harlan Lortz.

Rose Marie Berger was born December 10, 1928, in South Amana, the daughter of Martin and Henrietta Bopp Berger. She received her education in the Amana School district and graduated from Amana High School in 1947. Rose Marie attended Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa. She was united in marriage to George Trimpe. He later passed away. On June 29, 1984, Rose Marie married Harlan Lortz at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Marion. She worked in the office at Amana Refrigeration as an executive secretary. She was involved in the Women’s Fellowship, chancel Choir and Sarah Circle at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Rose Marie was also a part of the Homestead Welfare Club and Amana Heritage Society. She was a prayer warrior! She enjoyed vocal music, gardening, reading, traveling with Harlan and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
