Ruben J Yoder

KALONA - Ruben J. Yoder was born April 21, 1933 near Kalona, Iowa, the son of John S. and Lena (Miller) Yoder Jr. In his youth he accepted Christ and was a faithful member of the Old Order Amish Church. Ruben worked as a hired hand for many area farmers. Ruben passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his home in rural Kalona at the age of 86 years.
Ruben is survived by 4 sisters: Ida Yoder of Kalona; Ann Mae (Lester) Coblentz of Percy, IL; Emma (Cephas) Yoder of Kalona; Nina (William) Bontrager of Millersburg, IN; 2 brothers: Simon (Mary Susan) Yoder of Kalona; Dennis (Judith) Yoder of Kalona; 2 step sisters: Martha (Lonnie) Yoder of Arthur, IL; Elizabeth Ann (Roy) Beachy of Kalona; 5 step brothers: Edwin (Viola) Schrock of Arcola, IL; Sam (Susie) Schrock of Tuscola, IL; Daniel (Dena) Schrock of Cuba, IL; Jerry (Magdalena) Schrock of Kalona; Henry (Esta) Schrock of Sarasota, FL; 40 nieces and nephews; and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters: Lydia, Mary, Amelia, an infant; 3 brothers:Albert, Henry, an infant; 3 step brothers: David, Fred and Jake Schrock; and 4 nieces and nephews.


Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Cephas Yoder residence at 2639 520th St SW in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the North Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Cephas Yoder residence. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is caring for Ruben and his family.
