North English- Ruth Kathleen Hoppe was born August 11, 1948, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Dorthea McGuire. She graduated from English Valleys High School in 1966. She worked in a factory for many years. Ruth was united in marriage to LeRoy Hoppe on April 15, 1978, at the North English Christian Church. She was a life long resident of the North English area. Ruth was a member of the Brethren Church. She enjoyed doing embroidery work and spent 41 years putting a smile on people’s faces as “Suzie the Clown.” Ruth died on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Harmony of Cedar Rapids, at the age of 77 years.

She is survived by many cousins. She was preceded by her mother Dorthea Wright; and her husband LeRoy Hoppe.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural North English. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Brethren Church or Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church.
