Salinda Mae Miller was born Wednesday, January 31, 1917 in Belleville, Pennsylvania the daughter of Jonas and Elizabeth (Kanagy) Yoder. On June 14, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harvey H. Miller in Kalona. They lived in Kalona, Mt. Pleasant, Washington and returned to Kalona in 2001. Salinda was a homemaker and she managed the Starlite Motel in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed baking and quilting. Salinda died on Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a long illness at the age of 87 years. Salinda is survived by her husband Harvey of Kalona; 2 sons - Roy D. Miller and wife Mollie of Kalona; Robert L. Miller and wife Gayle of Tununak, Alaska; a daughter - Mary C. Miller of Kalona; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a son-in-law George J. Miller of Wasington; 3 half brothers - Amos Yoder of Belleville, Pennsylvania; Stephen Yoder of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; Samuel Yoder of Hudson, Michigan; and 4 half sisters - Rebecca Byler, Katie Yoder, Nannie Byler and Susanne Detweiler all of Belleville, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter - Elizabeth Miller; 3 brothers - Joseph Yoder, Jess Yoder, Urie Yoder; a sister - Mattie Zook; a half brother - David Yoder and an infant half brother; and a half sister - Mary Zook.
A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Home Alzheimer's Unit.
