KEOTA-Sally Snow, age 81, of Keota, died Thursday, March 24, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Mount Pleasant.
Sally was born November 9, 1940, in Hillsboro, to Henry and Georgia (Barnett) Ellis and received her education in Keota schools. On June 23, 1956, she married Kenneth Snow in Washington. The couple lived in the Washington and Keota communities where Sally worked several jobs, including housekeeping at Maplewood Manor for 30 + years. She was a member of the United Church of Faith, where she was very involved in the food pantry and served as custodian and enjoyed fishing, camping, mushrooming, dancing, being the neighborhood mom, taking care of family, Iowa Hawkeye football and attending her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include four children: Kitty Polhamus (Clay Stapleton) of Keota, Melvin Snow (Lisa Harris) of East Pleasant Plain, Bud (Shirley) Snow of Dubuque and Bea Snow (Ed Rusk) of Mt. Pleasant; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; four sisters: Barbara Gore of Manning, Mildred Yoder of Wellman, Donna Baker of Fremont, Nebraska and Beverly Butner of Fremont, Nebraska and three brothers: Larry Ellis of Keota, Terry Ellis of West Chester and Richard Ellis of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth in 2004; infant daughter: Brenda Lee; sister: Dorothy Schwab and brother: Butch Ellis.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the United Church of Faith in Keota. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
