Samantha Jo Kriegel

Samantha Jo Kriegel, age 38 of Ankeny, formerly of Brooklyn, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from injuries suffered in an auto accident. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2018, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, IA. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 3 to 7 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Memorials may be directed to the family in Samantha’s name.

Samantha was born June 16, 1980 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of LaVerne and Roseanne Sawyer Kriegel. She graduated from BGM High School, Brooklyn with the Class of 1998 and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Finance from the University of Northern Iowa. Sam worked for businesses in Oklahoma City and most recently in the Des Moines area as an accounting manager and in AP.

She was independent and adventurous, a friend to many, and devoted to her family. She enjoyed bicycling, riding her motorcycle, going to Iowa Wild Games, working out, and traveling. She liked playing games, watching movies and socializing with her friends. Samantha was a most generous and giving person. Her giving extended even after death, with a precious Gift of Life to several organ recipients. She lived life to the fullest, and will be greatly missed .

She leaves behind her parents, LaVerne and Roseanne; her sisters, Susan (Kyle) Lint of Brooklyn, Sheila Kriegel (Jim Westphalen) of Muscatine, and Maria Kriegel of Brooklyn; her grandmother, Kathleen Sawyer of Sigourney; nieces Kelsey and Kaylee Lint; and nephews, Elijah Lint, and Jake and Josh Westphalen; along with many cousins, aunts and uncles, and a special second family, Jim and Kari Roth, Katie Roth, and Jessie (Ben) Hinds and their sons, Ross and Otto.

Sam was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ronald Sawyer, and paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Claras Kriegel.
