Sandra Clawson-Gilmore

NORTH ENGLISH-Sandra Sue Clawson-Gilmore, age 83, of North English, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
    Sandra was born July 18, 1940, in Sigourney, to Glenn and Dorothy (Bailey) Finch and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1958.  On February 7, 1959, she married Billie Joe Clawson in Sigourney.  Sandra worked in the dietary department at Manor House Care Center until 1983, then at the EV Care Center until her retirement.  She also did the bookkeeping for Billie Joe’s milk routes.  Billie Joe died on April 25, 1983, and she married Richard Gilmore in 1987 at the Sigourney United Methodist Church.  Sandra was a member of the North English Christian Church and the Red Hat Society.  She loved to cook, making the best pies ever, have coffee with her friends, go on bank bus trips, her cat, Spook and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. 
    Survivors include her husband: Richard Gilmore of Sigourney; three children: Tammy (Dave Buckley) Appleget of Oskaloosa, Joe (Cathy) Clawson of Sigourney and Tom Clawson of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren: Tyler (Rochelle Mullet) Clawson and Megan(Braden)  Horn; great granddaughter: Lucy; three step sons: Roger (Pat) Clawson of Moline, Illinois, David (Nancy) Clawson of Lake Panorama and Danny (Melinda Meyer) Gilmore of Hannibal, Missouri; seven step grandchildren; brother: Steve (Barb) Finch of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; half-sister: Joen (Gary) Bayliss of Keota; sister-in-law: Mary Finch of Sigourney and brother-in-law: Rex Jackson of Davenport.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Billie Joe; two sisters: Marcia Jackson and Darlene Funk and brother: Stan Finch.

    Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Pastor Luke Caster officiating.  Burial will be at Bailey Cemetery near Keswick.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the funeral home.
