Sharon R. Fry age 60 of Marengo passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on November 9, 2017, at Rose Haven Nursing Home after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 13, 2017, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Sharon was born August 18, 1957, the daughter of Earl Stanley Lint and Clara Mardell Zahn Lint. She received her education in the Shellsburg Community Schools. Sharon and Rich Fry were united in marriage on September 24, 1977 at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg. Together they had two sons, Michael and Keith. The couple resided in Ladora for several years, then moved to Marengo.
Sharon worked for Rose Haven Nursing Home as the Activities Director for over 30 years. She worked until her illness made the work she loved impossible to carry on.
Sharon loved the Lord and was not shy about sharing her faith. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dog Sunny, singing, gardening, and sewing. Other interests included heading up the Relay for Life of Iowa County for several years, teaching children Bible verses at AWANA Clubs and volunteering to be the photographer at Safe Haven Animal Shelter events.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Rich Fry; her sons, Michael (Jess) Fry, and Keith (Jasmin) Fry; three grandchildren, Clara, Stanley and Bennett; and her mother Clara Lint, all of Marengo; sisters Diana (Lowell) Stone of Grinnell, and Marj (Rich) Walker of Victor; her parents-in-law, Earl and Norma Fry, brother-in-law, Danny Fry; and sister-in-law Theresa Fry, all of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a very special person in her life, Zachary.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Stanley Lint, a brother Roger Lint, a grandnephew Andrew Stone, a brother-in-law David Fry, and her grandparents.
