Shirley McMenomy

January 6, 1931 — March 9, 2020

Williamsburg- Shirley McMenomy was born January 6, 1931, in Iowa County, Iowa,
the daughter of Albert and Emma (Sandersfeld) Wetjen. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949. On April 8, 1951 she was united in marriage to Dean McMenomy at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed joking with friends, watching her grandchildren, bowling, playing cards and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Shirley passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Highland Ridge Care Center at the age of 89 years.

Shirley is survived by a son Todd (Connie) McMenomy of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; a grandson and a brother, Adrian Wetjen of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Kent, 5 brothers: Harlan, Richard Millen, Eldon and Delmar Wetjen.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 Friday, March 13, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
