Parkville, Missouri- Shirley Means was born June 30, 1937 in Pocahontas, Tennessee, the daughter of Clyde & Dolly (Fortenbury) Cobb. She attended school in Pocahontas. She grew up in Tennessee and later moved to Kansas and Missouri. On October 13, 1972, Shirley was united in marriage to George Edward Means in Kansas City, MO. She did clerical work for many years while taking care of her family. Shirley enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling to visit family. Shirley died on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Wexford Senior Living, in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 85 years.
She is survived by her husband George of Parkville, MO; eight children John Faulk, Carrie Randall, Preston Faulk, Tammy Burley, Donnetta Kerr, Carol Wheeler, Sylvia Reynolds and Molly Harris; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister Deborah Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Jerry & Clyde Cobb.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Family will greet friends from 12:00 pm until service time. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
