Shirley Ann Walters

Williamsburg-Shirley A. Walters was born December 16, 1935, in Iowa City. The daughter of John and Irene (Dee) Stettler. She graduated Williamsburg High School in 1954. Shirley was united in marriage to Wayne R. Walters on November 30, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Her true joy was being a mother to their five children as they grew up. She also worked as a waitress at Middle America and Seven Villages, a home health care aid, a clerk at University of Iowa Hospital School and later at Mercy Clinic in Williamsburg. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family. Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Red Hats and had been a Girl Scout leader. Shirley died Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo at the age of 90 years.

She is survived by her five children: Sonya (Richard) Uhlmann of Williamsburg, Jeff Walters (Roxanne Benesch) of Cedar Falls, Brend (Paul) Grucza of Glendale AZ, Andy (Kelly) Walters of Bennett, CO and Tim (Lori) Walters of Williamsburg; six grandchildren: Brandt (Jessica) Uhlmann, Evan (Brooke) Uhlmann all of Williamsburg, Kiaya (Garrett) Alfred of Cedar Rapids, Aubray Walters of Williamsburg, Jacque Walters (Cory Scott) of Cedar Rapids and Shane Walters (Allyson Beckers) of St. Paul, MN; seven great grandchildren: Graceyn, Gannon, Gabriella, Jacob, Wyatt and Ethan Uhlmann and Brynn Alfred; a sister: Carol Remerowski of Oklahoma City, OK and a brother Glenn (Judy) Stettler of Chippewa Falls, WI. She was preceded in death by her father John Stettler, mother Irene Stettler and stepmother Vivian Stettler, brother Herb Stettler and a brother-in-law Ron Remerowski.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Pilot Grove Cemetery near Williamsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church or Essence of Life Hospice.
