Steven "Robin" Dorothy

Steven E. "Robin" Dorothy, 57, of Hillsboro, IA, died Friday, June 4, 2010, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Visitation will begin after 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 8th, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening at the chapel. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor David Plooster officiating. According to his wishes, Steve has been cremated. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given to the Steven Dorothy Memorial of which will be designated at a later date. The son of Myrlen and Crystal Watson Dorothy, Steven Eugene was born on February 23, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Steve began a loving relationship with Lettie Lauer on September 28, 1981. The couple have been together ever since. Following high school, Steve worked for Vega Industries as a forklift operator for three years. He then became a tender for Jerry Wells Masonry. For the past nineteen years, Steve has been a bricklayer for Mike Sanders Masonry. A man of varied interests, Steve was a parachutist and has made over 500 jumps from an airplane. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, and spent many hours working in his yard at home. He liked photography and oil painting. Along with Lettie Lauer of Hillsboro, IA, Steve is survived by his father and stepmother, Myrlen and Kathy Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his mother, Crystal Westercamp of New London, IA; two sons, Micheal (Katie) Lauer of Urbandale, IA and Nathaniel Lauer of Rockport, IN; one daughter, Megan Lauer of Hillsboro, IA; and two brothers, Allen (Jennifer) Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Keith (Cindy) Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents.
