Stuart R. Derby

Marengo- Stuart Rene Derby was born March 15, 1956, in Iowa City ,Iowa, the son of Everett Nelson and Betty Eldora (Northup) Derby. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1974. Stuart served in the United States Army National Guard from 1974 to 1994 including serving in Operation Desert Storm. Stuart was united in marriage to Doris Morrison on June 17, 1978, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sigourney. Together they made their home in Marengo. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Amana Refrigeration for 43 years. Stuart enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, trips to the casino, country music and traveling. Stuart’s greatest joy in life was family, especially his grandchildren attending their sporting events and activities. Stuart died on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Keystone Care Center in Keystone, at the age of 70 years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Amber (Kevin) Gauthier and Abbie (Brent) Good; grandchildren, Allyson, Katelyn and Brodyn Gauthier, Jameson Good, and Mary Jayne and her family; two brothers, Dallas and Fred Derby; three sisters, Kimberly (Terry) Grimm, Valerie (Bryan) Lee and Melba (Darrell) Geib. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Danielle, parents, and brother, Darrel Derby and nephew Jeff.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo, with Pastor Dan Jessop officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo.
