Susanna Betina Stouder, 58, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd, at the Memorial Chapel with Randy Lengner officiating. Interment will be at the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the ASPCA (an animal rescue organization) and Great River Hospice House. The daughter of Chester Larue Hampton and Johanna Heynert, Susanna was born March 26, 1953 in Washington, Iowa. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and then attended Mt. Mercy College earning her Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology. On December 21, 1994 she married Roger Stouder in Keokuk, Iowa. For over 18 years Susanna worked as a LPN at several nursing homes. She then operated a family consulting business. Her most recent work was as a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart in Mt. Pleasant and Walgreens in Burlington. Always a housewife, mother, and grandmother, Susanna devoted herself to her family. Susanna enjoyed riding and showing horses, dogs, Native American history, and going to auctions. She would express her creativity in writing poetry, taking wildlife photos, and doing needle work. She was an avid reader of many books. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sabrina (David) Brown of North English, IA and Heidi (Patrick) Liegl of Marion, IA; a son, Adam Jensen stationed in Germany; three step-sons, Terry (Jen) Stouder of Aurora, CO, Ryan (Danielle) Stouder of Washington, IA and Rodney (Dawn) Stouder of Lockridge, IA; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and various cousins. Preceding Susanna in death are her parents; a step-father, Lloyd Montross; a grandson Michael David; and a half-sister, Dorothy Kehrli.
