Williamsburg-Sylvia B. Morrin was born Saturday, December 24, 1921 in West Branch, Iowa, the daughter of Einer Anton and Rena Johnson Larsen. She was Baptized in March 1922 at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch. She attended school in West Branch and graduated from West Branch High School in May of 1939, AIC Business College in Davenport in 1940 and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for two years. Sylvia was united in marriage to John J. (Jack) Morrin April 19, 1942 in Davenport. They moved to a farm 1 ½ miles south of Williamsburg in 1950 where they lived until moving into town in 1970. Slyvia worked at the Iowa County Court House as a secretary in the early 70's. After the death of her husband, she worked a few years (mid 70's) at the Journal Tribune. Sylvia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ladies Guild and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge and other card games as well as watching the Hawkeyes, Cubs and other sports. Sylvia died Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Williamsburg Care Center in Williamsburg after an short illness at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 22 days She is survived by two sons: Richard Morrin of Cedar Rapids and Robert Morrin of Marengo; two daughters: Rhonda Morrin of San Antonio, Texas and Pamela (Lowell) Iburg of Marengo; a daughter in law- Joann Morrin of Markville, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Tim (Tracy) Morrin, Nicole Morrin, Lucas Iburg, Lance Iburg, Ryan Iburg, Rebecca (Dan) Murray and Jessica Morrin and six great grandchildren and a step great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents husband in June 1974, a son John R. Morrin, an infant sister Harriet Larsen and a brother, Floyd Larsen. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Rev Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Sunday at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg were there will be a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 7:00 pm.
