CORALVILLE-Thomas William Morris, age 80, of Coralville, formerly of Keota, died Friday, July 3, 2026, at the University of Iowa Downtown Campus in Iowa City.
Tom was born July 1, 1946, in Oskaloosa, to Deane and Maxine (Sprague) Morris. He moved to Keota with his family in 1953 and received his education in Keota Schools. During Tom’s formative years his parents did a wonderful job socializing their special needs child, allowing him to flourish later in life. Tom worked as a custodian at Schwank Nursing Home in Wellman for 10 years before moving to the Iowa City area in 1973, where he tremendously enjoyed working in landscaping and lawn care for Quality Care for 28 years. Tom was a former member of the Keota Methodist Church and enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, old cars, making friends, singing in the community special needs choir, whistling and making people smile. Tom was able to celebrate his 80th birthday with his family just two days prior to his passing.
Survivors include his brother: Jim (Mary Alice) Morris; sister: Mary Sue (Al) Arneson and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Deane and Maxine Morris; sister Judith in infancy; sister: Beth Andrews; brother-in-law: Tom Andrews and brother: Frank Morris.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Pastor Mark Morris officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
