Tracy Young, age 53, of Marengo passed away on October 26, 2019. His family will be receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 , 2019, at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Tracy is survived by his father, Robert Young; children, Brad Young (Lavinia) of Chicago, Garrett Young of Cedar Rapids, Marshall Young of Chicago and Carter Young of Cedar Falls; his siblings Bonnie Hansen of Marengo and Tony Young (Anita) of Cedar Rapids; his sister-in-law Ann Young; and two grandchildren, Nora and Dean. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Young, and his brother, Ed Young.

Tracy Young was born in Amarillo, TX on November 2 nd , 1965. He moved to Marengo, Iowa in 1974, and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1983. He married Jill Young in 1985, and they had four children together. Tracy served 22 years in the United States Navy including deployments to multiple war zones. During his service he received multiple awards recognizing his outstanding leadership and job performance. Tracy also had a distinguished career in law enforcement with the Iowa County Sherriff’s Office, Marengo Police Department and Linn County Sherriff’s Office. Tracy had a diverse set of interests including cooking, hunting, fishing, fantasy books, motorcycles and weight lifting. He was also an excellent mechanic, and there was almost nothing he could not fix. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals fan and passed that fandom onto his children. Some of his fondest memories include his time in the military, coaching his children’s sports teams, and spending holidays (especially Halloween!) and vacations with his family.
