Truman Wesley Miller was born Sunday, November 15, 1925 near Kalona, Iowa the son of Noah and Elizabeth (Lehman) Miller. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Old Order Amish Church, remaining in that faith until his death on Monday, September 27, 2004 at his home in rural Kalona at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 12 days. He was ordained to the ministry in October of 1948 and Bishop in May of 1950. On January 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Lovina Swartzentruber and lived in matrimony 55 years. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2002. To this union were born 7 children - Joseph T. Miller and wife Esther of Wheatland, Missouri; Phebe, Mrs. Robert Yoder; Freda, Mrs Marvin E. Miller; Miriam, Mrs. Daniel Gingerich; Enos T. Miller and wife Alta; Orpha Miller; Laban T. Miller and wife Melva all of Kalona; 42 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 brothers - Levi Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Eddie J. Miller, Freeman R. Miller, and Ezra Jay Miller all of Kalona; 2 sisters - Susie Miller and Katie Irene Miller of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lovina; a daughter-in-law Rhoda (Kauffman) Miller and 2 grandsons - Stephen Miller and Marcus Miller; and a sister - Mary Magdalena Miller.
