Valerie Hoffer

SIGOURNEY-Valerie Hoffer, age 60, of Sigourney, passed away at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
    Valerie was born September 25, 1961, in Ballston Spa, New York, to Vernon and Grace (Taylor) Stanley. She lived in several places before moving to Sigourney in 1981.  Valerie worked in the bakery at Kind’s Jack and Jill for 18 years and Head Start for two years.  She enjoyed bowling, knitting, going bargain shopping and treasure hunting with Sherry, spending time with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed her most recent trip to Connecticut to visit family where she got to spend time near the ocean. 
    Survivors include her father: Vernon Stanley; sisters: Sherry Manville and Christine Gehrig, all of Sigourney; her children: Becky (Robert Bailey) Hoffer, Ray (Alisha) Britt, Joey (Callie) Pirone and Michael (Sara Hurley) Britt.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Paige, Griffen, Jacob, Ethan, Matthew, Connor, Abby, Aiden and Jaxson; several nieces and nephews and her beloved Chihuahua: Jose.  She is preceded in death by her mother: Grace Stanley; husband: Ray and brother-in-law: Tony Gehrig.
    
    Per Valerie’s request there will be no visitation, no reception, no memorial and no service of any kind.  Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Valerie and her family.  Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com. 

    Valerie had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody.
