Vera June Bowman

Williamsburg-Vera June Bowman was born May 18, 1930, in Roland, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Dess (Englebert) Martens. She graduated in 1947 from Hilton Consolidated School in Conroy. Vera was the Executive Assistant to Mary Jo Small, Vice President at the University of Iowa. Vera was united in marriage to Howard Melvin Bowman on August 20, 1950, at Shimer Presbyterian Church in Conroy. She enjoyed cake decorating and embroidery. Vera died on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, at the age of 96 years.

She is survived by her children, Debra (Mark) Olson of Atkins, Vicki Bowman of Pflugerville, TX, Larry Bowman of Bebe, NY, Julie (Randy) Tippie of North English and Carol (Gabe) Trinidad of Austin, TX; 8 grandchildren, Alison Bowman, Darrin Tippie, Katie Rogers, Andrew (Kandy) Bowman, Amy (Gus) Kiliveros, Emily (Brian) Petersen, Joel (Stacy Noel) Olson and Ashley Olson; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, son Lyle Bowman, 2 brothers Jim and Robert Martens, and sister Esther Folkmann.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Conroy. A memorial fund has been established for the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg or Highland Ridge Care Center.
