Vincent “Vince” J. Kral, age 51, of East Amana, passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, November 18, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Dianna Sickles officiating. The family invites those in attendance to join them in the Gallery following the service. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is caring for Vince and his family.
Vince is survived by his daughters, Aurora “Rory” and Annabelle “A.J.” Kral of Lutz, FL.; his ex-wife, Meridith “Merry” Kral Alford of Lutz, FL.; his parents, Dennis and Karen Kral of Cedar Rapids; and a sister Paula Kral (John Todtz) of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving Vince are several uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wes and Helen Kral and Rolland and Marjorie Lavrenz.
Vincent John Kral was born July 25, 1973, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dennis and Karen Lavrenz Kral. He graduated from Washington High School in 1991. Vince owned and ran Linn Skate in Marion. After the closing of Linn Skate in 1994, Vince moved to Florida where he managed a theater in Ocala. He was united in marriage to Meridith Alford on June 23, 2002. To this union two daughters were born. Vince received his associate’s degree from Hillsboro Junior College. He went on to the University of South Florida, achieving his bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Vince worked for the Contemporary Art Museum at t he University of South Florida as a chief preparator. He finished his schooling earning his master’s degree from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Vince loved to skateboard, was a Star Wars fanatic, enjoyed watching movies, golfing and watercolor painting. Rush was one of his favorite bands. In 2022, Vince moved back to Iowa, settling in East Amana where he loved the art culture. He was always finding new interests, and looking for ways to turn things into art.
