Millersburg- Wayne Henry Meyer was born February 23, 1934, at his family home near Deep River, Iowa. He was a son of Henry & Alma (Fruendt) Meyer. He attended St. John Lutheran School near Victor and graduated from Deep River High School in 1952. On June 7, 1957, Wayne was united in marriage to MaryAnne Wellman, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waco, Nebraska. He was a lifelong resident of the Iowa County area, living in Victor from 1960-1964. While living in Victor, Wayne worked at Koehn Motor Company. It was here that his love of Ford Tractors began. From there they moved to a farm south of Ladora, near Lake Iowa until 2000, when they moved to their current home north of Millersburg. He farmed and was a mechanic for Jim Elwood Implement, near Millersburg. In his retirement, he delivered Winnebagos, giving he and MaryAnne the ability to travel and visit 48 states and Canada. Wayne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, near Victor. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and driving to Belize to visit Marna while she was in the Peace Corp. He also enjoyed restoring many Ford tractors during his retirement. Wayne died on December 9, 2025, at the English Valley Care Center, in North English, at the age of 91 years.
He is survived by his wife MaryAnne of Millersburg; children William “Bill” (Carol) Meyer of Ladora, Michelle Meyer of Indianola, Warren (Lisa Lindsey) Meyer of Williamsburg, Marna (Kevin) Vogt of Ladora, Mellissa (Bart) Zuber of Conroy and Miriam (Kevin) Rinehart of Waukee; thirteen grandchildren eighteen great grandchildren; a brother Donald (Judy) Meyer; in-laws Elaine Meyer of Fairfax; Clark Wellman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Betty (John) Treakle of Olympia, Washington. He was preceded by his parents, a daughter-in-law Sarah Meyer; a brother Kenneth Meyer; a sister Ruth and husband Wendell “Bud” Gwin; sister-in-law Ardith and husband Gayle Daehling; and a great grandson Maxwell Krueger.
Celebration Of Life Services will be held 10:00 am on Monday, December 15, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, near Victor. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, near Victor. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, at the church. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Victor or Essence of Life Hospice.
