Wellman- Wilma Stutzman was born May 11, 1920, in Wood River, Nebraska, the daughter of William N. and Barbara (Gascho) Stutzman. Wilma grew up in Wood River, in 1944 she moved to Wellman, she moved to Iowa City in 1950 until retiring in 1982 when she returned to Wellman. She worked in housekeeping then was a dietary Aide at the University of Iowa from 1950 -1982. She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church and was active in the WMSC. Wilma volunteered at Parkview Manor for 4 years. She enjoyed crocheting and handwork. Wilma passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 101 years.
She is survived by four nephews, Willard Schweitzer of Wellman, Sterling (Dot) Schweitzer of Wellman, Mahlon (Kaye) Schweitzer of Kalona and Larry Schweitzer of Kalona; two nieces, Elaine Hochstetler of Goshen, IN and Judy (Wayne) Beachy of Kalona. Along with numerous great great nieces and nephews.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arthur Stutzman and three sisters Rosa Roth, Malinda Schweitzer and Eda Stutzman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman. Burial will be at the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 -10:30 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Galilean Children Home. Messages and tribute maybe left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
