Charles Yoder

Charles Yoder

Licensed Funeral Director, Mount Pleasant

Charles Yoder, has been serving families with Powell Funeral Homes since 1992. He is a licensed funeral director and certified crematory operator.  Charlie was born and raised in Wellman, Iowa. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1987, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1992. Charlie served as District 3 Governor of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association from 2014-2017, and served as president in 2019. He served on the Mid-Prairie Community School District Foundation for 12 years, serving as president for six years. Charlie and his wife Dorie, lived in Kalona from 1992, until moving to Mount Pleasant in 2020, following the merge with Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. He is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Noon Rotary Club, Iowa Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. Charlie enjoys playing golf, fishing and traveling. Charlie and Dorie have a daughter Morgan who has joined him in funeral service. 

Lyle Donald

Licensed Funeral Director, Sigourney & Keota

Lyle Donald grew up in Traer, Iowa, and graduated from North Tama High School.  He then attended Drake University and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1993.  Lyle served his internship at Steen Funeral Homes in Greenfield, then worked at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines and Sturm Funeral Homes in Springfield, Minnesota before moving to Sigourney in October of 1999.  He currently manages the Sigourney and Keota locations.  Lyle and his wife, Tracy, have two grown daughters, Brooke and Corinne.  He is a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, Sigourney Lions Club, Sigourney Kiwanis Club, Sigourney Golf and Country Club, Iowa Funeral Director’s Association, National Funeral Director’s Association and enjoys bowling, golfing, camping, boating and spending time with his family.



Samantha Lown

Licensed Funeral Director, North English

Samantha Lown grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 2000. She attended Kirkwood Community College, Carl Sandberg Community College, the University of Iowa and graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science. Samantha joined Powell Funeral Homes in March 2009, and has managed the North English location since December of 2014. She is a licensed funeral director and certified crematory operator.  Samantha is married with two children. She is an active member of the Webster United Methodist Church and the English Valley Booster Club. She enjoys traveling, golfing, camping and attending her children's activities. 

Bowen Yoder

Licensed Funeral Director, Kalona & Wellman

Bowen Yoder, son of Kimberly Doehrmann, grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 2010.  Bowen earned his AG GPS degree from Kirkwood Community College in 2014 and worked for Sinclair Tractor until 2019. Bowen earned his Mortuary Science degree from Des Moines Area Community College in 2020 and became the 5th generation of Licensed Funeral Directors in the Powell Funeral Home family. He manages the Kalona and Wellman locations. He is certified crematory operator. Bowen is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, the Kalona and Wellman Rotary, the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club and the Williamsburg Fire Department.  Bowen is married to Katelin and together they have a son. He enjoys spending time with his family and being out in the field farming.

Morgan Yoder

Licensed Funeral Director, Mount Pleasant

Morgan Yoder, daughter of Charlie and Dorie Yoder, was born and raised in Kalona, Iowa, and graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 2013. She received a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Studies from the University of Iowa in 2020, and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 2022. Morgan lives in Mount Pleasant and works at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel as a licensed funeral director and certified crematory operator.  She is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant Kiwanis, Iowa Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. Morgan enjoys watching the Kansas City Chiefs, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Jerry and Jacque Powell

Jerry and Jacque Powell

Jared (Jerry) Powell was born in Goshen Indiana and grew up in South English & Keota, Iowa. He Graduated from Keota High School in 1961, Attended Goshen College & the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science graduating in 1964 and became the 3rd generation of Licensed Funeral Directors in the Powell Funeral Home family. Jerry is a memeber of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and served as president in 1985. 


Jacquelyn (Jacque) Conrad was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  Grew up in Rural Keota and graduated from Keota High School in 1960.  She graduated from Ottumwa Heights College with an associate degree in Interior Design.


Jerry & Jacque were married in 1962. They lived in Wellman & Williamsburg working together in the Powell Funeral Home business until retiring in 2007. 

Robert Huber

Retired Licensed Funeral Director

Robert (Bob) Huber grew up in the Wellman community. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School, Ellsworth Community College and Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. Bob received his Iowa Funeral Director License in 1971. Apart from the two years he served in the United States Army, Bob has worked his entire career with Powell Funeral Homes. Although officially retiring in 2014, Bob occasionally still helps as a licensed funeral director when needed. He served on the North English Fire Department for many years. Bob and his wife Kathy live in North English. Bob is a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.

Family Service Counselor

Tracy Donald grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa, and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1989. She graduated from Marshalltown Community College and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1993. Tracy served her internship at DeJong Funeral Home in Keokuk, then worked as a funeral director at Steen Funeral Homes in Greenfield, Hamilton's Funeral Homes in Des Moines and Sturm Funeral Homes in Springfield, Minnesota ,before moving to Sigourney in 1999.  She was a stay at home mom and volunteered with many church activities and in the elementary school.  Tracy is the Advance Planning Consultant with Powell Funeral Homes.  She and her husband, Lyle, have two grown daughters, Brooke and Corinne.  Tracy is a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church and P.E.O.  She enjoys traveling, camping, fishing, being out in nature and spending time with family.

Katelin Yoder

Katelin Yoder grew up in Marengo, Iowa and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 2012. She earned her AAS degree completing the Physical Therapist Assistant Program from Kirkwood Community College in 2016. Katelin worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the University of Iowa Hospital from 2016 until 2022.  Katelin moved to Williamsburg in 2020. She is a Funeral Director Assistant for the Williamsburg, Kalona and Wellman locations. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.  Katelin is married to Bowen and together they have a son.  She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and staying active. 

Steve Dovenspike

Steve Dovenspike

Steve Dovenspike has worked part time with Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel since 2013. He is a certified crematory operator. Steve is a Mount Pleasant native, and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1970. He worked for Hy-Vee for 21 years, before joining the City of Mount Pleasant Public Works Department for 24 years. Steve cared for Forest Home Cemetery for his last seven years with the Public Works Department. He is a member of the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and served on the Mount Pleasant Fire Department for 15 years. Steve enjoys car shows, vintage toys, electric trains and cruising around in his Corvette. 

Joan Rodgers

Joan Rodgers

Joan Rodgers has worked part time at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel since 2016. She graduated from WACO High School, Central College in Pella, and the University of Iowa with

a Masters of Social Work. She also has a post graduate Certificate in Bereavement Care from Madonna University in Michigan. Her professional career included 37 years in medical social work at Henry County Health Center and Great River Medical Center. Her work included involvement with hospice since 1988, and her last 10 years of professional social work was solely in hospice with an emphasis on bereavement care. Joan also worked for 3 ½ years as Director of Lay Ministries at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant and continues to serve as a Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church. Joan and her husband Dave have three grown sons and six grandchildren. Joan’s passion is supporting, helping, and spending time with others.
