Robert (Bob) Hill, 60, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. A visitation will be held on Friday May 20, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends. A military memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date at Green Mound Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. The son of Carl J. and Lucille (Bain) Hill, Bob was born January 16, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant. He was a life-long resident of Mt. Pleasant. On February 2, 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 3, 1971. On July 15, 1971 he married Jean Logan in Mt. Pleasant, IA. They later divorced, but remained good friends. For 33 years Bob worked for the Public Works Department in the city of Mt. Pleasant as a Heavy Equipment Operator. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Bob also enjoyed fishing, coon hunting and mushroom hunting. He served on the Little League Board and coached youth baseball and softball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grand children. Survivors include one daughter, Lori B. Hill of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Rob (Nicole) Hill of Urbandale IA; five sisters, Lorene (Frank) Allred, Maxine (Gerald) Sammons and Ardith Ingwersen all of Mt. Pleasant, Louise (Edwin) Stauffer of Wayland, IA and Marjorie Entsminger of Brighton, IA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lexie, Bowen, Kennedy, and Jaxon. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and step-mother.
